Recent Music Videos That Have Made an Impression on me

What if I wanted to get into creating/directing music videos? Music videos have always grabbed my attention. Here are some recent music videos that have grabbed my interest and can are influential as well.
St. Vincent - “Actor Out of Work”
I like it for it’s amazing close ups and camera angles. The way the camera zooms in at the right moments along with the panning from left to right around the vocalist as she watches the expressions on their faces. I am also excited about St. Vincent’s new CD coming out.
Man Man - “Rabbit Habbits”
Here you get some better known actors in a video. Fred Armisen, Martin Starr, and Charline Li. Put them together in a short horror film about hairy people and you have a pretty humorous an somewhat creative video. Plus it is looks almost like teenwolf.
Company of Thieves - “Oscar Wilde”
This video takes a formula that has already been used and then makes it their own. It works out and has and interesting look at prep school life. If only public schools had so many options.
Chairlift - “Evident Utensil”
This video is always moving. Not just the band, but the visuals. It will be the first thing the viewer will notice. I would really like to know more about the outfits in this video though. I see glimpses here and there of them but the one that interests me most is the one with the spikes. It is so odd but enjoyable.
Red Dwarf - “Tounge Tied”
Yes this is an older one. A really old one. It is from the science fiction situational comedy, Red Dwarf. Over Easter weekend, after ten years on hiatus, Red Dwarf finally got the ending they needed. Sure nothing from the cliffhanger that aired back in 1999. But these specials over the weekend basically gave it closure. Full of paralell universe theories, this ending was satisfactory. I will report on it more later.
