Life Without Caffeine, DAY 7... or one week...
It has been a while since I have posted something new. yeah… I just have not felt it lately. Nothing seems to be inspiring me or really catching my attention. It might be that I am off caffeine or turn to other means of entertainment. Could it be depression… No… I am not the type to stay depressed. I move on. Like from this conversation. Moving on.
Fol Chen:
There is this band. This band that i played once on my radio show. They have an excellent sound and probably make it onto my i-pod in the next few weeks. I found their video late yesterday and thought. I really need to hear more of their stuff. Here is Fol Chen’s video for “Cable TV”.
Now there is nothing wrong with your computer’s Internet connection. The jumpy video is how it was produced. But with the music, we have something special. Now I cannot find much information online about Fol Chen. And I cannot say much about them since I have only heard two of their songs. A bit of an Of Montreal vibe. Check them out for yourself.

Getting in a Better Mood
There are many ways of forgetting the past and moving forward. Venting to friends, driving for hours on end. Music has cheered me up this week. Three bands have helped alot. Late of the Pier, The Bird & The Bee, and Lily Allen.

Late of the Pier has become popular in the Columbia area. Why should they not? They have an amazing album out right now titled Fantasy Black Channel. Now why did this music make my mood better? It sort of had my heart beating faster increasing my energy. I could not help having a bit of a skip in my step walking to classes. Pretty good. It made me confident that life will once again work its way out.

The Bird & The Bee released a their new album, Ray Guns Are Not Just the Future, back on January 27. I have posted plenty of things about The Bird & The Bee previously but now after two years a new album has emerged. Every track has a great quality and as my friend Will puts it, It is elevator music with lyrics. And that is what makes them great. Calming, soothing, easy to listen to. It is what I needed and a good balance with Late of the Pier.

Moving on the Lily Allen. What is there to say about Lily Allen? She is unlike today’s pop-stars. She seems more down to earth and more a more rounded character. That and it seems that she mocks today’s popular music. This all can be seen in her new album, released on February 9th, It’s Not Me, It’s You. This CD is the one to make you feel like a champion. As if you could rise above everyone else and beat down your problems with a gigantic stick. Take them all down a notch just to bring up a little self esteem.
