Changes There and Here
I feel as if some things need to change. Not drastically but just the little things. First thing to change, is my tumblr image. The image that people see whenever I appear on their dashboards. No longer hiding behind a robot. So there is my real face. That picture is not permanent, it is just temporary till I create a better looking one. You get the Idea. Now that that is out of the way and to quickly segway away from this awkward moment, let us discuss a secret obsession of mine. Something that I am a little bit ashamed but why not say it. I enjoy watching Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Degrassi is one of those shows I started watching when I was younger, ninth grade I believe, and continue to watch just to see where it goes. I do not watch every episode, just the ones that still contain characters from earlier seasons. These new ninth graders they add each season really bring the show down. There is nothing new with them. Sure the original cast, not the ones from the eighties, are all in college now, they would have new stories to tell. Not like these new kids who seem to be falling the same paths of their predecessors. It is a love hate relationship with Degrassi.
Even though I have been out of high school for multiple years, Degrassi still grasps my attention. Looking at the other high school dramas though, they really have nothing on this Degrassi. The Secret Life of an American Teenager… really, I know Degrassi has bad acting but this is just destructive. Gossip Girl is too fake and prissy, 90210 steals one of Degrassi’s actress, and Smallville stayed too long in high school to continue watching. Did enjoy what I have seen of The OC though.
The best thing about a teen drama is that they do deal with high school problems. The bad thing about teen dramas, too many high school problems. Are they really trying to tell me that there is a problem every week? So in these schools, scratch that, within this small percentage of the students, pregnancy, a school shooting, and an std outbreak can all occur in a month with these characters.
I do miss MTV’s Undressed…
